Updated: Oct 25, 2020

Morning sunrise while headed out to sea under the bridge at Hwy A1A Sebastian, Florida. The sun for a few moments looked to be split by the bridge. I challenged myself to paint this in 4 styles studying on great artist from the early1900's. (1905-1908)

Andre Derain best know for Fauvism was friendly with Henri Matisse and spent the summer of 1905 painting together in south France exploring techniques in impressionism. A pivotal collaboration. Derain's eclectic style included the bold color palette inspirations of Van Gogh and Gauguin.

Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gaugin all influenced each other in Impressionism, Fauvism and Cubism techniques in around 1904-1908. Derain was most influenced by Paul Cezanne's approaches building upon the works of his friend Henri Matisse.

These 4 paintings touch on the styles of these great artist through my eyes. No conclusion here just observations of styles and the evolution impressionism. My bold colors and energies comes from the amazement of these great artist.

All 4 paintings are acrylic 20x10" on canvass
